SAIT Students’ Association (SAITSA) holds two elections a year; one for the Students’ Executive Council (SEC) and one for the Students’ Legislative Council (SLC). The SEC and the SLC work together to fight for our academic rights and to make our time here on campus fun and rewarding!

Our former Student Executive Councilors have started successful careers with these companies after working with SAITSA. Employers are looking for potential employees that stand above the crowd and have proven leadership experiences. Election is held in the winter semester.

President - The head cheese, the big kahuna! This position is the propelling force behind all things SAITSA.

VP Finance - The keeper of all things financial. This person is responsible for not only the budget, but the internal operations of SAITSA and the Student Health and Dental Plan. They also do fun stuff like liaising with the Stampeder’s, the Flames and the Hitmen in order to get great deals for SAIT students.

VP Academic- Charged with all areas of student concerns, student advocacy and the general well being of all SAITSA members. This person is looking out for the underdog! Acting as an advisor to students, this position is very important to students on campus.

VP Student Life - Involvement in events, student clubs, and campus activities make this individual the life of the party. This person is in charge of bringing the FUN to campus! Life at SAIT isn’t all about studying and work, we gotta strike a balance with a dose of fun and excitement!

Election is held in the fall semester.

Positions: Representation by population of the following Schools: Business, Construction, Information and Communications Technologies, Health and Public Safety, Hospitality and Tourism, MacPhail School of Energy, Manufacturing and Automation, Transportation and Apprentices.

This council is representation by population of each School within SAIT. The SLC candidates are nominated and voted into position by their peers within their own Schools. There will be room for at least one student to represent each department; bigger departments may have up to 3 positions available.

Once the council has been elected these folks will gather together to help determine the focus and forward motion of SAITSA and how it represents the students. This is a great way to have some fun, get involved, and help make SAITSA a great organization for current and future students. You will meet lots of new people and make a little cash along the way.

As a SLC Councilor you will:

  • Represent and liaise with students from your School
  • Have input on important student issues at SAIT
  • Attend an opening and closing retreat!
  • Get to know what is going on at SAIT
  • Develop lifelong friendships
  • Meet lots of new people
